Kyle Orton is headed back to the Bears

Chicago.

Just two days after their loss to the Raiders, the Chicago Bears have made a change. In the most talked about move yet this offseason, they traded Jay Cutler and their first round draft pick in 2011 to the Denver Broncos to get Kyle Orton back.

“We’re excited to have Kyle Orton back in the fold.” Said Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo today. We had been watching his progress and seeing him defeat the Lions pretty much sealed it for us. We have to play those guys the first game of the regular season, so now we pretty much know we’ll be ready.”

The move came just a year after the Bears traded to get Jay Cutler from the Broncos and gave Kyle Orton away.

“I know it seems like we are admitting we made a mistake but that’s not the case,” said Angelo, “this was purely a business decision. The way Kyle has been picking apart preseason defenses is spectacular. It is not often you can get a quarterback that is second in the league in the preseason away from the team he is on. We had that chance, we take it ten out of ten times.”

Orton was asked if the change gave him satisfaction. “Well, you heard Jerry, I’m second in the league as a QB in the preseason, I think that speaks for itself. Right now I’m right up there with the big guns, guys like Luke McCown, Sage Rosenfels, and Chase Daniel. To be mentioned in the same breath with guys like that…that’s special.”

When asked if he had done anything differently this year to warrant the high praise and huge trade deal, Orton only said:

“I did let my beard grow a little further down my neck this year.”

  1. Great move on the Bears part. Orton is clearly an upgrade to Cutler.

  2. No doubt. Have you ever seen Cutler try to spit? He can’t even spit right when he’s on the sidelines! He is always trying to but he can’t. So I guess he couldn’t play pro baseball either if he can’t spit. But the worst part is, when he tries to spit, he has to have his helmet off…that dude is UGLY! I just want him to put it back on again!y
